In general kitchen machines are not the most presentable items in a flat and I tend to hide them as much as possible. There is nevertheless one big exemption, which I proudly present on the kitchen counter: the espresso machine.
I have to admit that I am probably rather the cappuccino drinker then the coffee expert, but I would still say that I would classify as a coffee lover. When it comes to the type of machine, beans, milling grade etc. my boyfriend is the person in charge.
When we have enough time we try to celebrate the making & drinking of coffee as much as possible. In order to make it fully enjoyable I tried to create a little coffee corner in the kitchen.
We use a wooden wine crate as shelving for all the supplies we need for espresso or drip coffee-making. A small selection of our cup collection is shown there as well: the white espresso cups are from the Coffee Bar line by Koenitz and the little pirate espresso cup is from the Pepe & Friends collection by Thomas. It holds some wooden spoons which I picked up in a shop called Dille&Kamille in the Netherlands.
When I am not in the mood for an espresso or cappuccino I use the Ceramic Coffee filter by Cilio to make a drip coffee. The clip was a present from my sister a while ago – a golden version is now available e.g. from Hay via Connox.de. The silver milk and sugar combinations – which I love especially because of the delicate sugar box – was designed by Philippi. The clip spot is from Ikea (RANARP).
